One week in Interlaken – Day 4

Day 4 – Wednesday 25th July 2018

After a couple of full-on days we decided to have a slightly more relaxing and slower-paced one.

Our base for the day was on the edge of Lake Brienz at Strandbad Bönigen, just a short bus journey from where we were staying. Here there was a 25m outdoor swimming pool; lots of water sports equipment; inflatables out in the lake and a nice grass area to sit on. I feel like it was more geared up for children and their families, but it was still a nice place to go and relax.

My sister and I were going to try our hand at kayaking in the afternoon but unfortunately a thunderstorm came over the lake and we weren’t allowed to rent anything or go in the water until this had passed (which is obviously the safe thing to do but it was a shame we couldn’t do what we had planned). As the weather had turned pretty rubbish we decided to head back to the apartment until it cleared or until we found something we could enjoy in the wet.

The rather chilly Lake Brienz – but I was brave enough to swim in it!

In the end I think we were all so exhausted we had a nap! But that meant that we could enjoy an evening out in Interlaken just having a walk through the streets and onto the green in the centre.

Not the most action-packed day but we still all enjoyed and our batteries had a chance to recharge for the rest of the week.

More on this trip coming soon 🙂

Happy travelling!
